What to wear in Egypt?

Normally, there are four important things that determine what you see in any country you want to travel:

Where exactly will your journey be, what is your destination?
You have to consider the general climate of the country and specifically the climate of the city you wish to visit.

  • The local culture of this destination.
  • Local customs in this country.

Egypt is a modern and conservative country, so people are careful about what they wear. It’s okay to wear regular pants and a shirt or t-shirt for men and women. The weather in Egypt is hot most of the year, peeking from June to August. We recommend you use light, natural fibers, but if it’s cotton, it’ll be great. Polyester or any similar artificial fabric will become uncomfortable very quickly. In addition, you will have to wear practical and comfortable shoes to walk in tourist areas. Sandals are suitable for hotels, cruise ships, and beaches. However, they are not the best. We advise you to bring three changes of clothes. There are excellent laundry facilities at hotels and Nile cruises in Egypt.

In religious places, a church or a mosque, you should wear conservative clothing. If you want to enter a mosque, you don’t have the right clothes. Don’t worry! The mosque will provide you with the right clothes to wear during your visit. For example, if a woman wants to visit the Amr Ibn El-Aas Mosque in the Old Cairo area, the attendant at the main gate of the mosque will provide her with canvas shoe covers after taking off her shoes and a long dress or shawl. o Abaya to put on the body. After finishing her visit, she will return the clothes to you. She will find canvas shoe covers and the long dress in most of Cairo’s famous and touristy mosques.

Hot shorts and hot body tops are not preferable in historical and cultural places in Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, and Aswan. You can wear them on the beach in coastal cities and resorts like Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Dahab, etc. But if you want to enter a local restaurant or market or walk the streets, it is better to wear appropriate clothing.

Finally, Egyptians are very kind, friendly, and open-minded people. They know that tourists and foreigners are from different cultures and accept these differences.
