Cairo the Charming City

 

Night in Cairo.

At night, from the airplane window, Cairo looks like bright necklaces. In fact, it is one of the most enlightened cities in the world and most cheerful at night. Around 20 million inhabitants live in greater Cairo. The city is known for the contrasts concerning life levels. As it is depending upon the district while maintaining extensive special charm. Undoubtedly, it is the nerve of Egyptian cultural and political life. The word “Cairo” in Arabic ‘Al-Qahira’ means ‘the victorious’. It is the main capital and the largest city in Egypt. It is also the center of culture and education in Egypt and in the region of Middle East and North Africa.

The city is a very vivid city, day and night, famous for evening activities especially in the summer. One of the features of Cairo is that the city does not sleep in summer time. The city is accessible, with open Food Service and coffee shops for 24 hours; many restaurants, bars. Also nightclubs work in summer into the early morning hours. Some shops and supermarkets do not close until dawn, while others open for 24 hours. In addition to that, Cairo has a great number of Souks, local markets, where you can buy gifts and souvenirs.

Cairo touristic attractions 

Khan El-Khalili for example is the most famous Bazar in the city. In addition, Khan El-Khalili is full of markets and souvenir shops located in El Hussein District. The city has a considerably sophisticated network of Metro. Currently, there are 3 lines, each one is about 50 miles long. One of them is still under construction. Cairo International Airport is the second biggest airport in Africa which offers flights all over the world. 

Cairo, the capital of Egypt, has the highest number of theaters in Africa; theaters of all types. The Cairo Opera House is the pearl of all theaters in the country. It is the major cultural center which offers various cultural activities. Originally, the Opera House was founded in 1869. Moreover, a new building was reestablished in a new area near Downtown. It is considered the oldest and most famous in Africa and in the Arab World. It is a huge cultural center with three theaters, several art galleries, museums and institutes.

Cairo has a lot of tourist attractions like downtown which is touristic and commercial area. It extended from Tahrir Square towards Attaba Square and Ramses Square.

Famous districts of Cairo

Tahrir Square ‘Midan Tahrir’ and the neighboring areas is the most famous area in Egypt. Further, it contains hotels, international chains or restaurants, cafes, the American University and the Egyptian Museum.There is also the Cairo Tower. It is one of the modern symbols of Cairo with 187m. in height.

You can also find many floating restaurants and dinner cruises on the Nile. Old Cairo ‘Fustat’ district is a very old town. It has some historical churches and the Coptic Museum, together with the Mosque of Amro Ibn Al As, the first mosque built in Egypt and Africa. Many ancient mosques located in Al Azhar district such as Al-Azhar Mosque and Al Hussein mosque. In addition, there are historical beautiful mosques from the Fatimid and the Mamluk times in Sharee Al Muez (Al Muizz Street).

Moreover, The complex of Saladin Citadel located in the district of El Qalaa. The complex includes the citadel with several museums and the 3 ancient mosques: the Mohamed Ali mosque, Al Nasser Mohamed Mosque and Sulyaman Akha Al Selehdar Mosque. On the other side, Giza is a part of Greater Cairo.In which, the famous Pyramids and the Sphinx are located as well as the new Grand Egyptian Museum.
